Seeding Where the Fields Were
Hydroseeding in Piedmont is tied to new construction. The town started as an agricultural market center on a railroad that stopped running in 1924, and it stayed small and rural for the first half of the 20th century. Starting in the 1970s, commuters moved in, and the opening of the Northwest Expressway (State Highway 3) helped drive population growth of 124 percent.
Big town, open ground
Piedmont covers about 44.1 square miles, a big footprint for a small city. A lot of that is still open farm ground. New homes often sit on acreage, with long frontage, a septic field and a big back yard. Hydroseeding fits these lots well because we can cover a large area in one visit and adjust seed type for lawn and non-lawn zones.
Builder sites and sediment
When several homes go up along a new road, bare dirt can run off for months. We install silt fence along the low edges, set inlet protection where curbs and drains exist, and hydroseed each lot as soon as final grade is done. Cover is the best erosion control.
Septic fields
Many Piedmont homes are on septic systems. After a field is installed, the disturbed area needs to be seeded so it does not settle or wash. We use a light grade and a seed mix that will not need deep roots or heavy traffic.
After the 2011 tornado
On May 24, 2011, an EF5 tornado destroyed about 180 homes in Piedmont. Those rebuilt lots are now 10 to 15 years into their second lawns. Some have thin spots where fill was never properly topsoiled. Overseeding and topdressing can bring them back.

Piedmont Questions
Can you seed a septic field after it is installed?
Yes. We grade it lightly and seed with a mix suited to that area.
How soon after building should we hydroseed?
As soon as final grade is done. The faster the soil is covered, the less of it washes away.
Do you handle multiple lots for one builder?
Yes. We can install silt fence across the site and seed lots as they are finished.
Can you use different seed on different parts of my acreage?
Yes. We can put lawn grass near the house and a tougher, lower-maintenance mix farther out.
